Miracle Fleet Flyer 21/03/08
Dear
Miracle Sailor,
Over
the winter months only a few hardy members of the fleet have been seen on the
water, the seventh start for the Sunday race being a lonely place. With the
advent of spring (bringing the warmer snow and only moderate gales) this is all
set to change & this season I am looking forward to some crowded start lines
and friendly competitive racing in both A & B fleets.
As
usual there are a number of Miracle related events (social & sailing)
through the season; below you will find a schedule of all the DWSC Miracle Fleet
+ Miracle Association events – in one handy list. The more support these events
attract – the more enjoyable they are.
We
start this season with our fleet dinner on Friday 4th April at the
Club at 19:15. This year it takes the form of a hot buffet provided by Bella
Cucina:-

The
cost is £15:00 for adults, £8:00 for children – under 13. This is a joint
activity with the Solo fleet. The
prize giving for last years races will follow the meal. We need numbers for this
event by Sunday 29th March; if you wish to attend and haven’t been
contacted by a committee member before then, please ring
me.
Following
‘hot on the heels’ of the dinner is the tune-up and training day -
19th April. This will be an opportunity to get / give tips on boat
set up and sailing techniques. We have many experienced and expert sailors in
the fleet & some excellent advice will be on offer. This year nine boats
from DWSC have already entered The Nationals – and more may sign up. It would be
a huge fillip for our fleet if the National Champions were again a Draycote team
and with the ‘strength in depth’ we have this is a real prospect. Perhaps with
coaching and practise some of us in the Silver and Bronze fleets may also enjoy
some success.
