2 Races per day, so that's 22 races with 14 to count
You can pay daily at £10 / day, please submit payment to the Sailing Club Office before taking part. Visiting boats will
be issued with a special pennant which must be displayed on the boat at all times.
Start times: 11.00am and 1.30pm
Cars must be removed to the carpark immediately after unloading. Please do not park your boat on the path or the patio -
we have a small square of gravel and wet grass reserved for you right outside the main club entrance.
In 2004, 37 boats took part in this competition, with the best turnout being 25 boats on one sunny day in February. A
bevy of World, various National and European champions past and present turned up, making this event hard fought and enormously good fun. The tendency for the visiting hotshots to go to the wrong marks helped the
local boys (some of whom also went to the wrong marks), and the changable conditions gave us some very exciting racing. Dave Wade and Richard Wagstaff won, with Draycote's Mike Deane and Paul Disney in 2nd place.
In 2005 the weather wasn't as kind, and a mere 34 boats took part. Some of the hotshots came from as far away as
Blackpool, on one occasion in the full knowledge that it would be too foggy to sail. But it started and finished windy and we all got our money's worth. Simon Maskell and Jon Watkins won the series, with Draycote's
Pete Badham and JR in 2nd place.
Last year, Adam Whitehouse and Mike Pratt had things pretty much their own way throughout, with Gary Russam and Andy
Besson 2nd overall.
This year, Adam, Mike, Gary and Andy will be back, along with local boys Peter Wood, Pete Badham, Mike Deane, Jez White
and the rest of the Draycote Posse. And we've got superheroes Martin Lewis and Richard Byne too. Those of you who were Fireballing in the 1990s will know how fast these two are - the rest of you will just have to
come and see for yourselves....
