Junior and youth sailors were victorious at Draycote Water Sailing Club's first ever Inter-Fleet Championship - which proved a hugely successful event for sailors of all ages.
With the best results over a series of 27 races, they beat five other fleets to win the trophy with 72 points, ahead of the Fireball fleet in second and the Menagerie fleet in third.
More than 100 club members sailed and the teams also represented Draycote's Solo, Flying Fifteen and Miracle fleets. Competitors jumped into Picos, Vagos or Laser II's for short course races which covered an S-shaped course, with a beat, reach, run, reach and beat to the finish.
With races lasting no more than about 15 minutes, quick changeovers on the shore, a running scoreboard and plenty of encouragement from spectators, competition was fast, furious and fun.
Elizabeth Fillmore, who along with Tim Fillmore, helped Malcolm Lewin to get his initiative off the ground, said: "It was good to see so many members taking up the challenge of this new event and enjoying themselves."
The winning team included Jess and Chloe Taylor, Joan and Jane Furness, Harri Jordan, Annabel Fox, Emma and Robert Loveridge, Serena De Nahlik, Jamie and Emma Pearson, Esther Sidebotham, Graham and Matt Wheaton, Mike Wood, Duncan Thorley and Phil Walker.
In addition to the The OnBoard Cup, they were each presented with a 10 voucher by Draycote chandlery and event sponsor OnBoard Surf and Sail.
Youth sailor Mike Wood said at the prize giving: "On behalf of the Junior and Youth Team I'd like to thank everybody for taking part, because events wouldn't happen if people didn't come. Thank you to everyone."
The Inter-Fleet Championship was combined with a day of family entertainment - including stilt-walking pirate, bouncy castle, sumo wrestling, fun runs and water games - and is now set to be an annual fixture on the club calendar.
