Boat Security

The Club reminds all boat owners that it is their duty to ensure their boats are securely tied down. The Club will levy a charge of £25.00 to secure the boat, if it is felt that it is insecurely fixed and may endanger others. Owners will also be responsible for any damage caused to other boats by their own. It is your responsibility to ensure that any tie down points are suitable and sufficient for the purpose.

How Tyresome

Many of you will have noticed the large pile of tyres that had built up next to the 'Fireball' slipway.

Most of these had been recovered from below the 'normal' waterline presumably thrown into the water by mischievous persons unknown and left lying there just waiting to trip up unsuspecting sailors.

The club has had to pay a significant amount of money to have the tyres disposed of and does not want to have to suffer the same expense again.

Old tyres are a very useful way of supporting dinghy hulls without damage, but the club is not a dumping ground. Please do not bring old tyres onto site unless they are to be specifically used for supporting dinghy hulls and are marked accordingly. Please dispose of any tyres you have previously brought to the club that are finished with rather than leaving them lying round.

Bar Opening Times

As part of the clubs ongoing endeavours to reduce our running costs, the Lounge Bar will not be open every Saturday afternoon. We will only open the bar on those Saturdays where there is a special event such as an open meeting or an evening meal.

Bar opening hours on Sunday will be from 2pm until 6pm

The house committee will endeavour to give members a month's notice of Saturdays and times when the the lounge bar will be open.

Severn Trent Construction Work

A new page has been set up to provide information on the status of Severn Trent Work and how it affects the club. Please refer back to it frequently and also the forum

Wednesday Evening Racing 2011

New for this season, Wednesday Evening racing will be taking a slightly new format with an updated start sequence. The racing will continue to be around the cans, but with the requirement to sail through the start line (Gate) each lap. This will allow for average lap racing and thus keep all sailors on the water for a similar amount of time. This simplifies the OD role somewhat as once you have set the start line you stay on the committee boat and record each boat as they cross the line. After a suitable length, the race is shortened and every boat finishes as they next cross the line. ODs will just need to record the number of laps and time for each competitor.   New start sequence.

The Sailing Committee strongly recommends that only quick release trapeze harnesses are worn when sailing at DWSC. Also that a suitable safety knife should be carried by all sailors when afloat.

Draycote Dash Postponed

Dash-it :

Unfortunately, it is with much regret that Draycote Water Sailing Club have decided  that the best course of action is to postpone the Draycote Dash.

While it is still very much possible to launch and sail at Draycote with the current water levels, the organisers feel that we would not be able to offer our usual high standard of sailing for the number of boats  expected to attend due to uncertainty over future water levels. Draycote Water Sailing Club feels that it would be unfair to ask competitors to  book accommodation and travel knowing that the event could potentially  be compromised. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but wanted to make sure all entrants and potential competitors alike were made aware of the situation well in advance.

Draycote Water Sailing Club are re-scheduling the event for the weekend of  25th/26th February 2012 and very much look forward to welcoming you  then.

The Draycote Dash will now become the final event in the Sailjuice Global Warm Up Series, and we look forward to welcoming you all to Draycote in February 2012.

Killer Shrimps: Boat Washing

All boats arriving at the club are required to be washed BEFORE being launched. This includes all visiting boats and club boats returning from elsewhere, e.g. open meetings.

This notice takes effect immediately and will remain in place until further notice.

An area to the east of the club house will be marked out and a hose pipe will be provided. If you have any problems please contact the bosun.

At present these actions are precautionary only. Thank you in advance for helping maintain the water standard of Draycote Water.

See Draycote forum for latest updates
